Columbia County Civil Service Announces Informational Webinar for Deputy Sheriff Positions
Hudson, NY, March 4, 2026 - The Columbia County Civil Service Department in cooperation with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an upcoming informational webinar for individuals interested in a rewarding career as a Deputy Sheriff. The virtual event will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 6 to 7 PM, providing an opportunity for prospective candidates to learn about the hiring process, specialized units, and the competitive salary and benefits offered.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking dedicated individuals committed to community service, integrity, and public safety to join the team as Deputy Sheriffs. This webinar will allow attendees to interact with staff to hear about daily responsibilities and gain insight into the academy training.
This webinar will cover:
● The Civil Service application and examination process
● Required qualifications to become a Deputy Sheriff
● Physical and educational standards
● The hiring timeline
● Competitive pay and benefits
● Career growth opportunities

The Columbia County Civil Service Commission administers Civil Service examinations to interested candidates for civil service jobs within Columbia County. They certify payrolls for various county departments and municipalities. The department issues and posts Civil Service examination announcements to the public. Regular Meetings of the Columbia County Civil Service Commission are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month@10:00 am, in the Civil Service Office on the 3rd floor of 401 State Street, Hudson, NY 12534

Payments for exams can be made with a money order and mailed in with your application. If you would like to pay with a credit card, please call our office as payments can be accepted over the phone. Cash is also accepted.
